Ayuntamiento de Constantina

Barrio de la Morería

Descripción

The centre of Valle de la Osa, next to the river of La Villa, which is hidden from the view of the passer-by, is of more recent construction, between the 15th and 18th centuries. This area is made up of wider streets, adapted to the flat area, and which show the economic power of the landowners, merchants and industrialists of the time.

Houses of a stately character, normally configured around a central courtyard and with façades in neoclassical and regionalist styles. Centred around the most representative areas of the historic quarter, those preserved around the streets Padre Félix, Blas Infante, Llano del Sol and Plaza de España stand out, as well as along the streets Mesones, Carnicería, Santo Cristo, Eduardo Dato, El Peso and Plazas de Santa Ana and Carretería. Included in this part of the urban fabric are preserved installations of industries destined to the transformation of natural resources, basically those related to wine, agriculture and livestock, wood and meat, highlighting anisette factories and family wineries that conserve wine presses and presses.
